Intergenerational Club
Since 1995, J.R.E. Lee Opportunity School has been involved in maintaining two major endeavors through our Intergenerational Club. The "Cookie Club" visits residents at the Palace Royale in Kendall on a regular basis to make cut–out cookies in the shapes of each season and holiday. The members of the "Oral History Project" interview war veterans, videotaping and recording their memoirs. The biographies that the students write are then printed, along with a copy of a portrait of the veteran, in the "Portraits and Biographies" books which are published each year by Miami–Dade County Public Schools. These books are distributed to each participating student, each veteran and their families, as well as to the Miami Public Library System and the Library of Congress.
